Annual Meeting and Tour of Hutton Elementary

Oct 27, 5:30pm - 7pm
(Please note the changed date)

Hutton Elementary
908 E 24th Ave, Spokane

Join AIA Spokane at 5:30pm on Tuesday October 27th for our Annual Meeting featuring a tour of the recently renovated and modernized Hutton Elementary School. A member quorum is needed to vote in our 2016 Officers and Directors. Attend and learn more about proposed changes to AIA WA|Council structure and a proposal for AIA Central WA to become a Section of AIA Spokane. Please note that we changed the date of this meeting to avoid 12th man conflicts with the Seahawks/49er's game. Go Team!

After chapter business is conducted, representatives of MMEC Architecture & Interiors will present a review of the Hutton Modernization Project followed by building tours.

The $28.8 million project involved demolishing some portions of the structure, modernizing the historic Spanish Colonial style school built in the 1920’s and erecting new classroom wings.  The original Hutton School contained six rooms and was constructed in 1920-1921 of brick and concrete blocks with a tile roof and stucco exterior for $96,200. It was named for Spokane pioneer and philanthropist Levi W. Hutton.

The addition and modernization provides improved pedestrian and vehicular safety, updated mechanical and electrical systems, and the incorporation of current and future technology for an improved learning environment. View the Presentation Boards from the November 2013 Open House and some Hutton Demolition and Construction photos.
