Meeting and Tour of GU’s Hemmingson Center
Aug 25, 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Hemmingson Center Gonzaga University Spokane Gonzaga's Hemmingson Center, located on the east side of the campus is a four level, 168,000 sf, replacement for the former 34,000 sf COG (Circulus Omnium Gonzagaorum aka Center of Gonzaga.) The 60-year old COG contained the University Bookstore, main board dining facilities, main food service offices and ancillary food venues/lounges. It’s near constant maintenance and small size made it very inefficient and unable to fulfill the growing and modern needs of the University. The Hemmingson Center, while still including the board dining function though with a very modern flavor, goes far beyond what the old COG could provide. The added square footage provides a new home for many student organizations that were previously spread around campus or located in the obsolete Crosby Student Center. It also allows for more meeting venues, an 800 person multipurpose room, 190 person auditorium, multiple and varying outdoor gather spaces, and a roof mounted greenhouse for teaching and food service use. The Center is a LEED Gold Certified building, a steel structural system with a masonry/architectural precast/curtain wall exterior façade. The overall aesthetic is contemporary and modern while fitting into the vernacular of quality and excellence to which the University aspires. Park in the BARC (Boone Avenue Retail Center) just west of Hamilton on Desmet. Enter and gather in Hemmingson Center at the building's northwest entrance at 5:30pm. Remember to sign-in for AIA Credit! This tour will be AIA Spokane’s Summer Party and includes the opportunity to experience the diverse dining options offered to Gonzaga students at Hemmingson Center. (No Charge for AIA Spokane members/spouses. Non-members $10.) 1 AIA|HSW Please RSVP by August 21st -Return to Upcoming Events- |
