NEWTECH Skill Center Tour and Annual Meeting

Oct 18, 5:30 - 7pm
NEWTECH Skill Center
4141 North Regal Street
Spokane, WA 99207

Join AIA Spokane, Bernardo|Wills Architects and Spokane Public Schools for a tour of the NEWTECH Skill Center Addition and Modernization.  This event will also serve as our Annual Meeting where we vote to approve Directors and Officers for 2017.

A consortium of ten-plus school districts, the NEWTECH Skill Center partners with high schools to offer advanced technical and professional training. This tuition free training is available to all area public, private, and home-schooled students age 16-20 who have yet to receive a high school diploma. The Skill Center offers programs in Animation, Automotive, Biomedical, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Cyber Security, Dental Careers, Medical Assisting, Robotics, Veterinary and more.

Designed around a two-story Commons - daylit from translucent clerestory glazing-the building provides updated spaces for the Skill Center’s health science and technology programs. An adjacent multi-purpose room used for meetings, workshops, lectures, assemblies, and other events can overflow into the Commons. Each Skill Center program has specific equipment and technical requirements creating multiple “projects within the project.”

The building creates an open, inviting learning environment, yet meets the evolving security requirements of a modern school facility. Site circulation accommodates access to the adjacent school district warehouse and the service area of the Skill Center shops.

Others involved in the project include:
Coffman Engineers, LSB Consulting Engineers, MSI Engineering, Kilgore TEC, Thomas Consulting, Don Trail, AIA, and Abadan Reprographics & Imaging

Join AIA Spokane after the meeting and tour at Geno's on 1414 N Hamilton St. for a no-host gathering.
